were mutually agreed on. At a meeting on the 25th April they were amended as follow:--

(1) Japan should withdraw her troops and remove all military

arrangements in the Concession.

(2) Japanese merchants should resume business and pay up all

wages owing to the Chinese workmen.

The Chinese Government in Hankow should withdraw all

troops, police and pickets on the Chinese side. (4) All workmen should obey all orders of the Government,

and avaid treating any Japanese in a hostile manner. (5) The Hankow Government should be responsible for the

protection of the lives and property of all Japanese. (6) Discussion of the incident of the 3rd April should be

postponed until a suitable opportunity occurs to re- consider it.
